In today’s lesson, we covered aggressive, passive, and assertive communication behaviours. We also worked on expressing our feelings, and ways to influence people in a conversation.

I really enjoyed the fact that this was in a workshop format. It really gives much more definition and dimension to these skills for effective communication. One of the exercises became overheated in one of the groups, but the fact that it took place gave a lot of room for growth. Learning to provide good feedback and learning to learn from feedback was one of the things that we’ve built on quite strongly today.

The groups are small, so the activities took place in a very “safe” environment. Mistakes were made, but being able to get timely feedback from the group really helped us all to improve as better leaders. I delivered a speech, got some very constructive feedback from the group, and I was able to immediately improve on my presentation skills. I think knowing how to give very meaningful feedback was the most important skill that helped us all improve on our communication skills.

Again, too tired. :) Gnite. haha
