My patent application from a few weeks ago is now a go! As confirmed by the patent office, there’s no prior art on this technology yet from their research. I am quite excited about all of this… and the fact that sometime in the next year or two, my name will pop-up on the US Patents & Trademarks Office website somewhere!

Ofcourse, it doesn’t just stop there. I spent some time on Friday with the patent team refining a lot of the small detail while expanding the scope of the patent. I am now looking to involve another expert on the design team to see if we can really make this “the next big thing”. But I am expecting it to be filed with the US PTO officially sometime before mid-March. Right now I am expecting a “publication date” sometime in May. So it might make it in time for a work term report. (and maybe for academic publication if I do a good enough of a job on the work term report!)
