This is a photo taken from the ECE 324 lecture when Dr. Wayne Loucks was trying to explain to the class about load lines. Although his drawings on the tablet pc may need significant improvements, he’s actually really really good at explaining the material well in class (for those that listen to the prof, not those who are rude enough to chat to annoy others). It’s professors like these that would regain my confidence in the reputation of Waterloo’s engineering programs.
He also has lecture webcasts videos posted ahead of time. So when we are in lectures, he can focus the discussion on the harder to understand concepts. Even though this effectively doubles the amount of time we spent in “lectures” to about 6 hours a week, I think it’s a really great value-added bonus for the tuition that we pay!
Side note: I think Wayne Loucks talks a lot like the way Larry Smith talks in lectures. Except he talks about voltages and well… Larry talks about the matrix master(s). Has any one had classes with both professors? Wouldn’t you agree with me? lol. He’s even got that same slight slouch too!
I think this calls for a fan club on Facebook…

We had Loucks for 324 too, but no webcasts!
I recognize the room hahah
