The new Zune player is finally in Canada! I just tried out the Zune software on my computer to help me decide if I should get the Zune player. The software was very easy to install with just a few clicks. After opening up the software for the first time, I just pointed the Zune software to my music directory and it did rest of the work!

Since I do have quite the collection of fobby music, I am quite used to these software failing to read the tags properly. Zune actually makes it very easy to update the tags on your albums. All I had to do was to right click on the album and select “Find album information” and it practically did rest of the work! Not only it had album art and information for my non-mainstream Canadian artists, it also had all the information for my Asian music collection! I also used it to fill in the song information that I was too lazy to look up before. This feature alone is already the iTunes killer for me.

The other interfaces are quite simple and easy to learn. There aren’t too many things that you can click on, which really contributed to the learnability of the software. Within the first 5 minutes of using the program, I am already able to fully understand the functionalities of the software and what I can do with it. I also liked how the “album art” view doesn’t take over my primary monitor when I have it set to full screen on the other monitor (again, unlike iTunes). This means I can have a spiffy looking window in my second monitor while I do my work on my big monitor.

I’ve been looking for a new MP3 player with a lot of memory. My 8gb iPod Nano is currently filled up completely with music that I listen to with its battery life degrading. I am really eager to just bike out to Future Shop and pick one up right now, but I am in quite the “unemployment scare” right now, so I will wait until I find out about my employment status over the next week to determine my ability to afford one. =P

The Zune player has been available for Canada for a while now. I’ve been using the Zune player since the Zune 2 was released in the States. I am most definitely going to get one when I hit up Redmond. Who knows? Maybe you will be able to accompany me. *crosses fingers*

Well, I have no more interviews coming, I don’t think it’d break any co-op rules if they just told me now instead of leaving me sweating here. :(
